DISCIPLESHIP

Welcome Class

Welcoming people to the Sanctuary of Praise is a priority and we enjoy making people feel apart of every aspect of the church.  Pastor David Kimsey leads this informal and informative session to make those new to the Sanctuary of Praise aware of expectations and benefits of church membership and involvement.  This session will be beneficial to anyone considering making the Sanctuary of Praise their church home, providing an opportunity for Pastor Kimsey to share the vision of ministry and how everyone at the church is important in accomplishing God’s purposes for central Louisiana and the world.

Gospel Class

"For by the grace given me I say to every one of you; do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."   Romans 12:3-8

The Sanctuary of Praise holds the issue of church membership in high regard.  Members function as the primary missionaries for the church to the culture.  Members live, eat, and breathe the climate of central Louisiana every day, placed in the culture to emulate Christ.  We are called corporately as ambassadors of Christ to share and live the Gospel with those whom God – in His sovereignty – has placed in our lives.

Membership is about more than attending church meetings.  Members who enter into a covenant with their local church are called to a higher degree of responsibility and service; the first step in this membership process is completing the Gospel class.  The Gospel class is foundational to connecting new believers to what the Gospel is and how it should be lived out on a daily basis.

These informative sessions will serve to equip you and your family to move forward to higher levels of service in the Kingdom of God, and will in many practical ways inform you as to what we believe and teach at The Sanctuary of Praise.

Discovery Class

Discovery class exists to serve believers in identifying their gifts and ministry and matching them to current ministries at The Sanctuary of Praise or assisting them in launching their own unique ministry to enlarge the Kingdom of God in the community and world.

"And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ..."   Ephesians 4:11-13

We hold strongly to Paul’s teaching in Ephesians 4:11-13 where he describes the role of the pastor to the church.  The pastoral staff equips the church for the work of ministry.  The result of this, Paul says, is maturity and unity in Christ.  The Sanctuary of Praise is committed to creating a model that follows the Biblical text, equipping our members to serve both within the community of believers and among the community which surrounds us.

As you feel led to call The Sanctuary of Praise your church home, service will inevitably become a part of your life’s worship.  Our church body acknowledges that everything we are, and everything we possess, is a gift from God.  That is why our musicians, our ushers, our children’s ministry assistants, and people serving in all areas, donate talents and time; likewise, we give joyfully and sacrificially of our first-fruits as Scripture instructs.  Weekend worship is not just a time of observation and experience, but of experiential participation.  The greeters at the door, the receptionist, and the pastoral staff…all are used by God to speak into people’s lives, to be a living sermon verbal or unspoken.

Pray and consider where you might best serve your brothers and sisters in Christ.  Church happens 24/7; lend your help and skills during the week, as well as on Saturdays and Sundays.  We welcome you to join us in these ministries and look forward to serving with you.

In order to serve at the Sanctuary of Praise we ask that you attend the Welcome session, and complete the Gospel and Discovery classes.  These informative sessions will serve to link you up with the vision and ministries of our church and insure that your gifts match the needs of our many ministries.
